The first day I headed out to the west, through Lancaster and up the coast at Morecambe. The minor roads between Carnforth and Arnside were the most enjoyable, but the A65 into the wind on the way back was the low point. I managed 73 miles. You can see the route here.
I took on the hills of the Dales on the second day, taking on two 1:5 climbs and several other difficult hills. The hills at the start of the ride took my muscles about 25 miles to recover before I could put some effort in again. As with Saturday, the weather was fantastic. Unfortunately, the heat required me to drink more than usual, and I ran out of liquid before finding a shop a few miles later. See the 65-mile route here.
Oh, and Mike's birthday was on the weekend. Happy Birthday!
